ABOUT US

“I wonder how it would feel to experience that”

A brainchild of Finnish professional freeride snowboarder Antti Autti, Arctic Lines was born from an endless passion for the outdoors – especially exploring new areas for freeriding and backcountry endeavors.

In 2020, when travel was limited due to the pandemic, Antti Autti had his most memorable winter to date. He spent months exploring his home turf, something he hadn’t experienced for many years due to his job as a professional snowboarder. The time spent at home led to the idea of creating a video series in which Antti searches for different freeriding locations in the Arctic, just a day’s drive from his home.

As the project moved forward and gained publicity, the requests for guided tours started to come in. At the same time, Antti and his friend Ville had been organizing the ski season kick-off event Arctic Weekend, the biggest snowboard and freeskiing festival in Finland.

The idea of combining these elements – film productions, guiding and events – under one umbrella started to evolve in Antti’s mind. After a few years of planning, the concept of Arctic Lines as an outdoor experience company was born.

Years later the passion for outdoor photography has grown into a full-time career in filmmaking. When not creating new films, Mikko-Pekka can be found hiking somewhere in the vast wilderness of Lapland.

As the main editor of the Arctic Lines web series, he has a chance to combine his love for outdoors and telling good stories through film.

GUIDES

On tours in Finnish Lapland, your guiding is mainly done by Antti Autti.

In other areas, we work with certificated guides, fjell leaders and backcountry professionals.

Antti Autti

Antti Autti has had one of the longest careers in professional snowboarding out of the impressive cast that Finland has produced over the years. During his successful competitive career, he won two World Championships and achieved several podium finishes in top-tier contests around the world. He is also the first European Gold Medalist in the history of the Winter X Games superpipe competition. In 2006, he represented Finland in the Turin Olympics and placed 5th.

In 2010, he did something that set him apart from the flock. While still at the top of his game, he decided to turn down an invitation to compete at the Vancouver Olympics and stopped competing altogether. His soul was not in it anymore, and he wanted to move on to freeriding. For Antti, snowboarding has always been a way of connecting with nature and finding a freedom where the only limit is his imagination. While competing, he had started to lose that original connection with the sport.

Since turning his focus to freeriding, Antti has released several documentaries, influential short films and now, the video series Arctic Lines where he explores his home region. Many of these projects have been highly acclaimed and have inspired people around the world!

Alongside his film projects, Antti has been guiding tailored freeride tours in the Arctic and Japan.

On his guided freeride tours, Antti aims to inspire people to have a good time, no matter what the conditions might be. He also shares his knowledge about nature and local customs, as he thinks that a good freeride guide is a good lifestyle guide as well.

Arctic Lines Outdoor Experience Company is Antti’s brainchild that was born from an endless passion for the outdoors – and especially exploring new areas for freeriding and other backcountry activities.

While he is the founder of the company, Antti works in the day-to-day operations and connects people according to their needs. He is a multi-talented outdoor professional whose biggest passion is to inspire others through his film projects, guiding and event services.
